Most of the time all your friends have a good Affinity to You percentage with you, that means that you and your friends all like the same anime and kind of anime the same way, so having an average weighted score of what your friends think about an anime/manga entry is much more helpful than seeing the MAL default score that all users (including users who don't have a similar anime taste you do) on MAL gave to that entry.
